Amanda Brown RehabWorks 2008 Intern Grand Valley State University |
I was born and raised in the capital of the Mitten State, Lansing, Michigan (Go Spartans!) and currently attend Grand Valley State University in Grand Raids, MI. This internship at RehabWorks serves as my last clinical rotation and I am so excited to spend it at a place that will challenge my thought process and understanding. I will graduate in April of 2008 with a major in Athletic Training and a minor in Spanish. I have worked with many local high schools as well as Grand Valley Football, where we won a Division II National Championship in 2006, and Grand Valley Softball. In my spare time I enjoy running, lifting weights and scrapbooking. While at Grand Valley, I dedicated much of my time to our Athletic Training academic fraternity, Iota Tau Alpha, volunteering to the community, fundraising, organizing conference trips and dinner events, and finally, keeping track of all the monetary duties as treasurer. I am a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association, the Michigan Athletic Trainers Society, American Association of Health, Physical Activity, Recreation and Dance, and National Association of Sport and Physical Activity. The next step in my education is Graduate School for either Nutrition or Sports Management at a university out West. Ultimately my career goal is to become a head athletic trainer of a Division I University, but until then I plan on having fun just being an Athletic Trainer and learning as much as I can as I go.
